June 28th, we are excited to enjoy another Elmdale Family Picnic. Again, this year we have pre-sold 6″subway sandwiches that will be delivered by our Parent Council to your child’s classroom around 11:30 am. The picnic will take place from 11:40-12:40 pm. Teachers will walk their students out to the basketball pad to meet their parents. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a picnic lunch.
February 23rd is our Family Celebration of Learning event. Our students are always excited to show you their art work that they created with artist Colleen Watchorn during the month of January. In addition, classes will be sharing some of the books that they have created. This year, some classes have explored how to create books using an app called Book Creator using their iPad. Please go online to elmdale.schoolappointments.com to register for your child’s appointment by November 8, 2016. For Grades 1-4 music and gym appointments, please register Elmdale siblings together in the same time slot. The Month of May was an exciting month filled with fantastic Variety Shows as well as class field trips. I thought that the variety shows were a wonderful example of each student’s passion and talent, showing everyone in the audience what they love to do. We invite all parents/guardians of children attending our school to take part in this unique and exciting opportunity to share their thoughts. April is an exciting month as we begin to prepare for the initial visits of our pre Kindergarten students who are starting Kindergarten in September 2016. We are hosting a Kindergarten Orientation evening May 4, 5:30-6:30pm. May 5 & 6, we will be hosting our Kindergarten Screening. Elmdale is introducing our new eNewsletter Monday February 1, 2016. This eNewsletter is now our main means of communication with our Elmdale families. We will no longer send home the one page paper newsletter that has been previously used. We finished 2015 with some fantastic Christmas concerts by our Grades 1-4 and our Kindergarten students.
